The message when you are still on a f2p account is poorly written but reading it properly it actaully tells you that it is 5 days from when you have bought the expansion.

You need trade contracts to purchase additional mounts (200 of them for the jackal alone). In addition, you can use them to purchase items from vendors on the map.

When you log into your new character, you can double-click on the bank panel and add the new character’s access key. You can then move items between the two characters and use them in different ways.
